JOPLIN, Mo. – The Northeastern State women’s soccer team suffered its first setback of the season in a 2-0 loss to Missouri Southern State University Sunday afternoon at Hal Bodon Field.
The RiverHawks (5-1, 0-1 MIAA) dropped its conference opener, while the Lions (2-3-1, 1-0-1 MIAA) remained unbeaten in league play.
NSU outshot the home side by a 17-11 margin. True freshman goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff (5-1) suffered her first collegiate loss after allowing the two goals and making three saves in 90 minutes.
Northeastern State will stay on the road for a 7 p.m. Friday match against Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo.
