Haskell rodeo this weekend

The Haskell Livestock Booster Club will be producing their annual rodeo at the All Sports Arena in Haskell Friday and Saturday. This rodeo is sanctioned by the American Cowboys Rodeo Association, Cowboys Regional Rodeo Association, and Arkansas Rodeo Association.

Local entries are also welcome. G-Money Rodeo Company will be the stock contractor again this year.

They will offer the eight standard rodeo events, plus mutton bustin and junior and peewee barrels. This rodeo is a part of the G-Money Rodeo Company’s M&M Custom Camper Rodeo Tour. Gates will open at 6 p.m. with the mutton bustin at 7:15 p.m.

The regular rodeo performances will begin at 8 p.m. nightly. There will be $300 added money per event. Also, there will be a nightly bounty bull. Admission at the gate is $8 for adults, students 6-16 get in for $6 and kids 5 and under get in free.

The Professional Bull Riders association will be at the Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa for the Express Classic Presented by American Hoggers on A&E. The performances will be Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tickets range from $12 to $102. Groups of 15 or more can receive $10 off the $37 tickets or $5 off the $27 tickets on Friday. Contact (918) 894-4242 or groupevents@smgtulsa.com.

You can watch Versus bull riding events at 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 5 p.m. on Sundays. Go to the Versus channel finder at http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/  to see which channel it is on for your particular carrier.

Tuesday evening will be the first jackpot of the Broken Arrow Round-Up Club’s 19th Annual Barrel/Pole Buckle Series. The first night will have $500 in added money. Jackpots two through six will have $150 added money nightly, then on the Finals night, there will be $750 added.

The only requirement to be eligible for the added money is to enter that night. If you want to run for the series awards, you must enter four out of the first six jackpots.

There is no nomination fee – just the attendance requirement for awards. The barrel jackpot will be run on the half-second split format with equal payout in the divisions.

Before exhibitions (barrels only) will start at 6 p.m. and the fee is $3 per exhibition. The entry fee for the jackpot is $20.  Contestants may pre-enter the jackpot by calling (918) 357-9122 by 6 p.m. Monday.

Anyone bringing a horse onto the BARUC grounds must have, in their possession, proof of negative coggins testing. This will be checked and you will be asked to leave the grounds if you do not present current proof. This is a state law so you should have a negative coggins when you haul your horse anyway.

The polebending will be run in a straight jackpot payout – no divisions. Entry fee for the poles is $15. There is no added money to the poles, but there is the same attendance requirement to be eligible for awards.

In these times it is often hard to get sponsors for events. Kevin Grover GMC of Wagoner has sponsored the added money for this series. Barrel racers – please stop by their lot or give them a call at (866) 623-9633 and thank them for making such nice payouts available for us.

For more information on the BARUC series or arena conditions call (918) 691-1614 or (918) 258-3079. Their website is www.brokenarrowruc.com.

Be careful on the road with this heat. Good luck wherever you run this weekend.
