College basketball roundup


NSU 77, CENTRAL BIBLE 48 — Northeastern State men’s basketball team improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2005-06 with the victory over Central Bible College at Jack Dobbins Field House on Saturday night.

 NSU dominated the stat sheet, shooting 50 percent from the field, 41 percent (11-for-27) from behind the three-point line and 92 percent (12-for-13) from the free-throw line.

 Junior guard Bryton Hobbs led all scorers with 18 points. Senior guard Jon Miller came off the bench to score 15, and senior forward Jermaine Bransford added 13 points and six rebounds. Sophomore forward Landon DeMasters was able to contribute nine points and six rebounds as NSU got at least two points and an assist from 10 different members of the team.

Joey Kreuter led CBC (2-5) in scoring with 14 points. Tony Malone added 12 and Mason Horsley dropped in 11.

NSU completes its four-game homestand at 7:05 p.m. Monday against Ecclesia College (0-5).

FRIENDS 83, BACONE 63 — Friends University’s Falcons outscored the Warriors 41-28 in the second half to upend the Warriors in Wichita, Kan., on Saturday.

The Falcons connected on 56 percent (33 of 58) for the game compared to 40 percent (25 of 62) for the Warriors. Friends' Anthony White led all scorers with 23 points.

Christian Smith led Bacone with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Roland Barbaza and Sean Cooper also scored in double figures for Bacone with 12 and 10 respectively.

Bacone (2-4) travels to Texas A&M-Kingsville at 4 p.m. Friday.

CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE 92, TULSA 76 — Tulsa dropped its final game of the NUCDF Challenge, and its first of the season, with the loss at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Three players scored in double figures for the Golden Hurricane (3-1), led by Rashad Smith’s 15 points. James Woodard scored 14 points and Rashad Ray added 13 points for TU. Josh Greene led the Matadors (5-0) with 28 points.

The Golden Hurricane return home to face Jackson State at 7 p.m. Wednesday.


CONNORS 104, COFFEYVILLE 71 — It was no contest Saturday night at the Coffeyville Classic as the Connors State Cowgirls cruised to the victory over host Coffeyville Community College for their fourth consecutive victory.

Five Cowgirls scored in double figures with Sha’Georgia Williams scoring a season-high 19 points to lead the attack. Shakayla Love also drained a season-high 16 points. Shakemia Franklin scored 14 points followed by Tiara Hall’s 12 and Courtney Medcalf’s 10.

Muskogee ex Chelsie Keys led the Coffeyville in scoring with 16 points and Kourtney Carpenter added 13.

The Cowgirls improved to 5-2 for the season and open Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference play at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Melvin Self Field House against Murray State.
