TULSA 63, BUFFALO 57 – James Woodard had 22 points and eight rebounds and Pat Swilling Jr. added 11 points as Tulsa pulled away late for a victory against Buffalo on Wednesday night.
With the game tied at 51-all with 3:24 remaining, the Golden Hurricane (8-6) scored nine straight points. Woodard had the first seven, on two layups and a 3-pointer, as the Bulls (5-9) missed five straight shots.
Two free throws by Kauri Black made it 60-51 with 32 seconds to play.
The Hurricane, playing their first home game since Dec. 8, shot just 39.3 percent (22 of 56) from the floor and 53.6 percent (15 of 28) from the line.
TEXAS TECH 64, OKLAHOMA STATE 59 – Chynna Brown scored 15 points, including a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 45 seconds to play, and Texas Tech defeated No. 13 Oklahoma State Wednesday night in the Big 12 opener for both schools.
Kelsi Baker had 14 points and six rebounds as the Lady Raiders (11-2) stopped Oklahoma State's winning streak at 17 games. The streak, which extended to last season's Cowgirls WNIT title, had been the longest in the nation.
Tiffany Bias led the Cowgirls (11-1) with 27 points and Toni Young had 12 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out. The Cowgirls led 18-5 just 8 minutes into the game, but Texas Tech came back to lead 32-27 at halftime.
OKLAHOMA 71, WEST VIRGINIA 68 – Aaryn Ellenberg scored 19 points, leading five Oklahoma players in double figures, and the 17th-ranked Sooners spoiled West Virginia's Big 12 debut with a victory Wednesday night.
Sharane Campbell had 17 points and 12 rebounds and Joanna McFarland had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Oklahoma (11-2). Nicole Griffin added 11 points and Morgan Hook scored 10 for the Sooners in their season conference opener. Campbell's free throw with 5 seconds left made it 71-67 Sooners.
