TULANE 75, TULSA 72 — In New Orleans, Ricky Tarrant scored 21 points and Josh Davis finished with 19 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists as Tulane (13-5, 1-2) beat Tulsa in Conference USA play Saturday.
Trailing 54-49 with 9:37 left to play, Tulane, which snapped a five-game losing streak against the Hurricane, went on an 18-7 run to take a 67-61 lead with 3:44 remaining.
Pat Swilling Jr. made a 3-pointer for Tulsa (11-8, 3-2) with 39 seconds left to cut the deficit to one, 71-70. After Davis made a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to go, making it 75-72, James Woodard missed a game-tying 3 for Tulsa with 4 seconds left.
ORAL ROBERTS 65, SAM HOUSTON STATE 61, OT — At Huntsville, Texas, Shawn Glover and Warren Niles scored 17 points apiece and Oral Roberts took sole possession of second place in the Southland Conference.
Korey Billbury scored 16 points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Damen Bell-Holter added 13 points for the Golden Eagles (10-8, 5-1).
The Bearkats (11-7, 4-2) led 26-23 at halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored them in the second half, shooting 54.5 percent, while the Bearkats shot 45.8 percent in the half.
Marquel McKinney had 11 points for the Bearkats. Woodard led the Hurricane with 21 points and seven rebounds.
MISSISSIPPI 76, ARKANSAS 64— Marshall Henderson scored 16 points, Murphy Holloway added 15 and Mississippi pulled away for the win Saturday afternoon at Oxford, Miss.
Ole Miss (15-2, 4-0) is now off to its best start in conference play since the 1936-37 season. The Rebels won despite a mediocre shooting performance and a 30-minute power outage that delayed the game late in the first half.
Arkansas (11-6, 2-2) recovered from a 13-point deficit early in the second half to tie the game at 50 with 10:59 remaining. The Razorbacks were led by 16 points from Marshawn Powell. B.J. Young added 14 and Hunter Mickelson had 10.
SAM HOUSTON STATE 54, ORAL ROBERTS 47 — At Huntsville, Texas, Jaci Bigham led the Golden Eagles with 25 points on 10-for-22 shooting, but the rest of the ORU team was just 9-for-35 from the floor as the Golden Eagles (7-9, 4-2) fell out of first place in the Southland Conference.
Kevi Luper chipped in 10 points in the loss.
Britini Martin led the Bearkats (9-9, 5-1 SLC) with 19 points, while Sequeena Thomas added 18 points and 20 rebounds.
As a team, SHSU outrebounded the Golden Eagles, 54-36, including 23 offensive rebounds. ORU was just 1-for-15 from three-point range and 8-for-13 from the free throw line.
