Boren: OU tuition won't go up for next school year

— NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — University of Oklahoma President David Boren has reaffirmed his pledge that OU will not increase its tuition and mandatory fees for the coming school year.

Boren told students in an e-mail yesterday and parent in letters that he will recommend no tuition and fee increases. He first made such a pledge during a meeting of OU regents in January.

Boren formally will make the recommendation regarding tuition to regents during their June 24 meeting. He says in the e-mail that he expects his recommendation will be approved.

Boren says that OU officials understand students and their families need relief during a time of national economic crisis.
