BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) — A fire in a school bus that was being towed shut down the north lanes of the Muskogee Turnpike for about an hour.
Broken Arrow Deputy Fire Chief James Suddath says no one was inside the bus when it caught fire near the turnpike's interchange with the Creek Turnpike about 3:45 p.m. yesterday.
The cause of the fire wasn't immediately clear. The blaze destroyed the bus.
Suddath says the bus was sitting atop a wrecker when the bus caught fire. Authorities chose to close the turnpike because of the fire's thick smoke.
