(AP) — An Ada attorney who has surrendered his license to practice law has been charged with his wife with embezzlement. Prosecutors charged 56-year-old David Morris and 56-year-old Connie Morris with conspiracy and two counts of embezzlement. They're accused of taking $74,000 from the estate of Elizabeth Blakesley that was intended to be used for scholarships at East Central University. They're also accused of stealing from the estate of Beatrice Mullins by allowing friends to live in property that Mullins left for the university. David Morris' attorney — Richard O'Carroll — says Morris paid the university the money from the two estates in 2007. The Oklahoma Bar Association says Morris voluntarily surrendered his law license in June 2008 after he was accused of charging excessive legal fees, neglecting client matters and misappropriating client funds. ___ Information from: The Oklahoman, http://www.newsok.com
