Increased shipments reported at Port of Catoosa

CATOOSA, Okla. (AP) — Officials at the Tulsa Port of Catoosa are reporting an increase in both inbound and outbound shipments at the eastern Oklahoma port.

Port officials say nearly 131,000 tons of cargo passed through the port in October, driven mostly by outbound shipments of agricultural products and inbound shipments of dry cargo.

Inbound steel shipments reached the highest total since July and twice the amount that arrived in September.

The October activity brings the 2009 cumulative figure for shipping through the port to more than 1.6 million tons.

The Tulsa Port of Catoosa is the head of navigation for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, a 445-mile long waterway that links Oklahoma and the surrounding five-state area.
