— DUNCAN — The preliminary hearing for Chancy Allen Ulna, 16, and James Francis Edward’s Jr., 16, is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Stephen’s County District Court.

Michael Detainee Jones, 17, will appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday with a hearing motion filed to continue his preliminary hearing.

This would provide Jones’ defense an opportunity to review his case. The three youths were arrested in August in relation to Lane’s death.

In the days following their arrests Ulna and Edward’s were charged as adults facing the charge of first-degree murder, while Jones was charged as a youthful offender for use of vehicle in discharge of weapon and accessory after the fact in murder in the first degree.

But charges against Jones were increased to be one adult charge of murder in the first degree.

At that time, his attorney chose not to continue with his case and the court appointed new legal council.

Lane died from a single gun-shot wound Aug. 16, while out for a run near the intersection of Twilight Beach and Country Club roads.

He was 22 years old. Lane was in Oklahoma attending East Central University, and his girlfriend Sarah Harder lives in Duncan.

A gag order is in place for each of the cases for the three boys.

This gag order prevents parties related to each case (including the Stephen’s County District Attorney Jason Hicks and the boys’ attorneys) from talking to anyone outside of the courtroom about the cases.

The preliminary hearing will introduce evidence and witnesses for the cases against and in favor of the teens. It may also set up jury trial dates.
