Suspect dead, 2 OHP troopers wounded in gunfire

DEL CITY (AP) — A gunbattle following a pursuit in Del City has left a suspect dead and two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers wounded.

A spokesman for the patrol, Lt. Brian Orr, says the chase started early Saturday on an Interstate 35 service road and ended near Interstate 40. Orr said that at the end of the chase, the suspect got out of his car and exchanged fire with the troopers.

The suspect was killed in the shootout. Orr said one of the troopers was shot in the face and the other in the leg. Both were taken to an Oklahoma City-area hospital. Both are expected to survive, Orr said.

Neither the suspect nor the troopers were immediately identified. The incident remained under investigation.
