Associated Press

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two troopers who were wounded in a gunbattle in which a suspect was killed remain in stable condition.

The patrol identified the wounded troopers Sunday as Ryan Smith and Chris Bunch. They were wounded in a gunbattle Saturday morning that followed a pursuit of the suspect in Del City.

Smith, an eight-year veteran of the patrol, suffered a facial wound. He is expected to remain in an Oklahoma City-area hospital for at least two more days to recover.

Bunch, who has been with the patrol for one year, suffered a leg wound. He has been released from the hospital to recover at his home.

The identity of the dead man has not been released.
