Stilwell man arrested on murder complaint

— A Stilwell man has been arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder.

Firefighters found a body inside a house on fire at 215 W. Elm St. in Stilwell on Sept. 26.

The medical examiner’s office identified the victim as David Davenport, 41.

Davenport died of multiple stab wounds, according to an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation media release.

OSBI agents arrested Lonnie George Wheeler, 50, on a warrant for first-degree murder and first-degree arson Tuesday. Wheeler was booked into the Adair County Jail.

Wheeler was living at the home where the fire took place, the release states.

Several people allegedly were drinking at the home that afternoon. A physical altercation allegedly took place that evening, leaving Davenport dead, the release states.
