Principal resigns following acquittal in boating death

— JAY (AP) — A Jay Middle School principal who was acquitted of a manslaughter charge brought after a fatal boating accident has been reinstated but has tendered his resignation.

Roger “Shane” Carroll was found not guilty on March 28 and was restored to his position Thursday by the school board. Carroll then resigned, effective June 30.

The July 29 crash killed Monte Price, 39. A jury in Delaware County found Carroll not guilty of manslaughter and reckless operation of a vessel on Grand Lake.

Price’s father, Dan, said he’s glad another chapter in the “nightmare” is closed.
