Bomb hoax empties state Capitol

Associated Press

— OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the state Capitol was evacuated Friday after a woman called police with a bomb threat directed at Gov. Mary Fallin.

Fallin’s spokesman Alex Weintz said the governor was in the building and was taken to an undisclosed location and is safe.

Trooper Betsy Randolph said Oklahoma City police received the call about 10:25 a.m. Friday from a woman who said bombs would go off at the governor’s mansion and other locations. She says Fallin was immediately notified and ordered the Capitol’s evacuation as a precaution.

Randolph said a sweep of the governor’s mansion and the Capitol determined both buildings are secure, and the Capitol reopened about 11:30. Randolph said a suspect had been identified by Oklahoma City police.
