DHS director post offered to Tenn. official

Associated Press

— OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's Commission on Human Services has offered a retired Tennessee official the job of director of the Department of Human Services for an annual salary of $185,000.

After a closed-door meeting, the commission that oversees DHS voted Wednesday to offer the job to retired Tennessee DHS Deputy Commissioner Ed Lake and give him until Monday to decide whether to take the position. The commission also voted to offer Lake a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Commission Chairman Wes Lane described Lake as a "proven change agent" who has the backing of both the commission and Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin. Lake was not immediately available for comment.

Commissioners are searching for a successor to Howard Hendrick, who retired in March after 14 years.
