November 24, 2012 Associated Press

— TULSA — Authorities in Tulsa say more than 140 violent gang members were taken off the streets during a recent operation.

Officials say they also recovered 29 guns, $20,000 in cash and more than $22,000 in cocaine and other drugs during the operation, which ran from August to October.

Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan tells the Tulsa World (http://bit.ly/T76DdW ) that the department's efforts with the U.S. Marshals Service produced remarkable results in the area of gang violence.

The World says the arrests included two people in connection with a triple shooting outside a duplex in September. One of the victims died from gunshot wounds.
