THINGS TO DO — Classes

BEGINNERS CROCHET CLASS FOR GIRLS AGES 8-12, 2 to 4 p.m. every other Tuesday, Honor Heights Park. Cost: $5. Come and learn to crochet. Information: Cierra, (360) 608-9307.

CROCHET CLASS, 2 to 4 p.m. every Saturday, Hobby Lobby. Learn basic crochet or advance your crochet skills to the next level. Cost: $20, materials are provided. BEADING CLASS, 7 to 9 p.m. every Friday, Beaded Bliss inside Arrowhead Mall, 501 N. Main St. Learn how to make your own jewelry. Different class projects every week, call for more information on current week’s project. Cost: $15-$25, including supplies. Information: (918) 681-4869.

CONQUERING CO-DEPENDENCY CLASSES will be lead by Gary Weiesnbach with two assistants. Time and dates to be established around participants’ need. Must register by calling (918) 682-8411 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

ADULT BALLROOM CLASSES, 6 p.m. Fridays, Cockle’s Dance Studio, 407 N. York St. Learn swing, waltz, fox-trot and Latin dancing. Cost: $45 monthly, per couple. Information: 684-7250.

AIKIDO FOR TEENS AND ADULTS, 5:45 to 7 p.m. for teens and 7 to 8 p.m. for adults Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Muskogee Teen Center. For teens in grades 7-12. Sensei Read Omohundro, a second degree black belt in Aikido martial arts will conduct classes. Enrollment is open to male and female students. Aikido places emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement and balance to neutralize the aggressor’s force. Sweats or other comfortable dress required. HIP HOP CLASSES, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Teen Center, 322 Callahan St. Enroll for fall classes. There are beginner and intermediate levels. The Teen Center is open to any area youth in the seventh to 12th grade from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. There is no charge. Information: (918) 684-6344.

GED CLASSES, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, Arrowhead Mall next to BancFirst. The free classes are sponsored by Union Public Schools of Tulsa. Information: (918) 681-4199.

BELLY DANCE CLASSES, 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Muskogee Swim and Fitness Center. It is free for members, but non-members can pay $5. Instructor: Eve Whitney-Newton.

DIABETES CLASS, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month. The 1 p.m. class will be at the Muskogee Swim and Fitness Center and the 6:30 p.m. class will be at Gaddy Drug. The topic is diabetes medications and weights loss. Information: (918) 682-5584.

OVERCOMERS RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAM, 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. Faith-based teaching by G5 Outreach Ministries using a 90-day workbook. For people of all backgrounds to help addictions of drugs, alcohol, gambling, codependency issues, eating disorders, sex addictions, violence and criminal behaviors. Information: (918) 681-4050.

SUMMER ACADEMIES available for kids k-12. Classes are 8 and 10 weeks. Classes include academic advancement (math, science, reading and English enrichment ACT/SAT prep. Art and Crafts, Expressions in Art, Weight reducing classes, invention classes, Food Prep and more. Participants can attend all day or half day sessions. Transportation is available and lunch will be provided. Classes are divided into two sessions four and five weeks. Cost is $20 a session. Space is limited for each class. NEW MEMBER PROMOTION, Muskogee Camera Club, 1 to 3 p.m. July 20, First Assembly of God, Muskogee. Experienced club members will be available to show you the tricks and techniques for capturing great images of multiple strobos. No need to bring anything but a SD or CF card.
