The American Red Cross is asking members of the community to step forward to be a “Hero” for the American Red Cross to keep the services of the Red Cross alive and well in the Muskogee area.

“Heroes for the American Red Cross” is a campaign in which local business people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs and individuals pledge to raise $1,000 for the local Red Cross chapter.

This year, the Muskogee Area Service Center hopes to raise $30,000. The funds will be used to support services such as disaster relief, assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information. All money raised will support people in Muskogee, Wagoner, Cherokee, Adair and northern McIntosh counties.

To become involved in the five-week campaign, contact Jordan Pool at 682-1366. If unable to volunteer, but you would still like to help, mail a donation to American Red Cross, 566 N. Sixth St., Muskogee, OK 74401.
