Muskogee voters wanting to vote in the municipal elections can begin casting ballots Friday.

The 2008 ballot contains the names of six candidates seeking the post being vacated by Mayor Wren Stratton. Also up for election are three contested ward positions.

Officials said early voters can cast ballots from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Monday at the Muskogee County Election Board, 400 W. Broadway. Voters who wait until Tuesday will cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at regular precinct locations.

Muskogee’s municipal elections are at-large, meaning voters have the opportunity to vote for all candidates regardless of where the voter lives. Should the candidates of any contested race fail to earn a majority of the votes, a runoff election will be May 13.
