TAHLEQUAH — Events scheduled today by a local water-quality advocacy group have been postponed due to a scheduling conflict.
Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson was scheduled to discuss the state’s lawsuit against several northwestern Arkansas poultry companies during an event sponsored by Save the Illinois River Inc.
Edmondson’s involvement in a hearing of his request for a court order temporarily prohibiting the application of poultry waste within the Illinois River watershed will prevent that appearance. STIR President Kurt Robinson of Muskogee said the presentation of a film that documents the impact factory farming has on water quality also will be postponed.
Robinson said the STIR-sponsored events will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
