A Muskogee man was bound over Thursday to stand trial on first-degree manslaughter charge.

Authorities allege Larry Eugene Hodge, 43, was intoxicated when he wrecked a vehicle he was driving. Darrell Eugene Yates, 39, a passenger who was pinned inside the vehicle two hours, died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the investigating trooper smelled the odor of alcohol on or about Hodge while investigating the wreck, which occurred about two miles west of Jess Dunn Correctional Center on Old Taft Road.

Assistant Kristin Littlefield said the investigating officer and another passenger testified against Hodge during Thursday’s preliminary hearing. Hodge remains free on a $10,000 bond.
