A Muskogee man was killed when struck by a train is Sallisaw.
Sallisaw Police Chief Shaloa Edwards said Joseph Dillon Sallee, 25, was killed after being struck by a Union Pacific train Sunday at about 3:10 a.m.
Sallee was sitting on the train tracks, Edwards said, at the J.T. Stites Boulevard and U.S. 64 crossing. Raquel Espinoza, director of corporate relations and media for Union Pacific, said the train’s engineer sounded the train’s whistle multiple times, but Sallee didn’t move from the track.
Edwards said the train’s engineer reported seeing Sallee brace for impact before being struck.
“He balled up like he was waiting for it,” Edwards said.
