A Missouri couple was hospitalized after dodging a pedestrian on U.S. 69 in McIntosh County led to a crash, an Oklahoma Highway report states.
Jason D. Jones, 32, of Springfield, Mo., was stable when he was admitted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Machelle Jones, 32, also of Springfield, Mo., was treated at Muskogee Regional Medical Center and released, the report states.
The crash happened about 11:20 p.m. Friday three miles north of Eufaula and a mile south of Oklahoma 150. Machelle Jones was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu northbound and saw someone walking southbound in the northbound lanes. Jones drove to the right to avoid the pedestrian, overcorrected to the left, then overcorrected to right, causing the car to roll over twice. Jason Jones was pinned for an unknown length of time and was removed by the Eufaula Fire Department.
The pedestrian’s name was not released, but the trooper’s report states the pedestrian had been drinking. Machelle Jones was wearing a seat belt, but Jason Jones was not, the trooper stated.
