Local veterans have until March 28 to register for the National Veterans Golden Age Games, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., from June 28 to July 2, a media release states.
The National Veterans Golden Age Games is the premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States and the only national multievent sports and recreational seniors competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older veterans, including those with a wide range of abilities and disabilities.
The games include events such as air rifle, bowling, cycling, field (discus, shot, javelin), golf, horseshoes, mind sports (checkers, dominoes), nine-ball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis, track and badminton.
All veterans 55 or older who receive inpatient or outpatient health care through VA are eligible. Participants must be seen by their VA Primary Care provider to be medically cleared for the games. Medical forms must be dated no more than six months prior to the start of the games.
