A Stilwell man remained hospitalized in Tulsa Saturday following a single-car crash in Cherokee County.

Gary Frederick Ruark, 24, was listed in serious condition Saturday afternoon at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, a hospital spokeswoman said.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Ruark was injured about 8:45 p.m. Friday on Oakdale Drive about one-half mile northeast of East Cobbs Corner Road. Ruark was driving a 1998 Pontiac southbound on Oakdale Drive when he missed a curve, ran off the left side of the road, struck a tree and went down an embankment. His passenger, Matthew Lee Hall, 39, also of Stilwell was not injured. Neither man was wearing a seat belt. Air bags deployed on both sides of the vehicle, the trooper’s report states.
