Deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office have confirmed a body was found Wednesday morning at Tenkiller Harbor, but at this point, they don't believe foul play was involved.
A report came in between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Wednesday from a witness who had seen the body. Officials said the man, described as in his early 40s, was wearing only pants and a shirt. A coat was lying nearby, but it was soaked with water.
The man appeared to have been outside all night, and deputies said it's possible he may have died from exposure to rain and cold temperatures. The body has been transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office for a final determination as to cause of death. That ruling could take between a week and a month, officials said.
Deputies said the man's relatives have been identified, and they will be releasing his name early Thursday.
