TAHLEQUAH – Cherokee Nation, Cherokee Nation Entertainment and the Tahlequah community will celebrate on Thursday the grand opening of Cherokee Casino Tahlequah.
There will be a ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m. Thursday at the tribe's newest casino, which is located at tribe's newest casino, located at 3307 S. Seven Clans Ave. The event is open to the public.
The tribe broke ground on the 92,000-square-foot gaming destination in March 2018. Located at Cherokee Springs Plaza, the casino is nearly five times the size of the facility it replaced and offers new entertainment, dining and convention opportunities to the Tahlequah area.
Cherokee Nation Entertainment is a wholly owned gaming, hospitality, retail and tourism entity of the Cherokee Nation. The company operates Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa and nine other casinos, which include a horse racing track, three hotels, three golf courses and other retail operations.
The tribe and its businesses employ more than 11,000 people. They reportedly have a combined economic impact totaling $2.03 billion in the state of Oklahoma.
