The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will meet at 1 p.m. May 18, at Lucy Peter’s Hall, Bacone College. The group will hear from a representative of Eye Restoration Clinic, providing services to improve and save vision. Alice Adair will serve as the host for refreshments. • Muskogee County Historical Society
Muskogee County Historical Society will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, at Three Rivers Museum Conference Room, 220 Elgin St.
Barbara McAlister, mezzo-soprano Native American internationally acclaimed opera singer for many decades, will present the program. McAlister, born in Muskogee and an alumna of Oklahoma City University, spent her early career in musical theater before winning the prestigious Lauren Zachary Award, which launched her international operatic career. She ultimately sang over 50 roles throughout the United States, Europe, and Hong Kong. After returning home she has invested significant time as a fine arts instructor/voice teacher for the Cherokee Nation. She was one of 17 people who recently were honored at the 2019 Governor’s Arts Award ceremony at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
Food trucks will be on-site providing lunch options from different vendors.

• Muskogee County Retired Educators
MCREA will have their final meeting for this term at 11 a.m. Friday, at Three Rivers Museum, 220 Elgin St. Dianne Hill and Loretta Reed will present the annual Necrology program honoring the memories of past educators. Cedric Johnson will give the devotion. Darla Ryan, vice president, will conduct a brief general business meeting. Golden Corral will cater lunch. The cost is $10 per member.
All area retired educators, support personnel and administrators are encouraged to attend. You do not have to live in Muskogee County to participate.

May 15 — The “Brunch Bunch” will meet at Speedway Grill, 2010 W. Okmulgee Ave. Be there by 10:30 a.m. for the breakfast menu. After that, it’s lunch.
