The Night of the Rising Stars will come to Wagoner at 7:30 p.m. April 12 at the Performing Arts Center.

Featured will be great local entertainment, including Kaileigh Bullard, along with Zac and Colton Swon. They will perform to raise money for Wagoner Area Neighbors and for Grad Nite 2008 activities for Wagoner High School.

City Superintendent Larry Morgan, who is one of the planners of the event, had compliments for the three.

“Kaileigh Bullard has been performing around here a long time, and has entertained local audiences for years,” Morgan said. “She will do even more in her musical career in June when she goes to Nashville.”

Morgan said the Swon Brothers provide a wealth of musical experience and talent.

“Zac (Swon) was runner-up for the ‘Gimme the Mike’ contest in Tulsa last year, and Colton with in the ‘American Idol’ competition recently,” Morgan said. “They are very talented musicians.”

Morgan said the City of Wagoner has been working with the school and Wagoner Public Schools Superintendent Janice Aldridge to bring the talent together.

“We thought it was a good opportunity to show off the Performing Arts Center with its seats numbering about 1,200,” he said. “These performers grew up around here, and this will give them another chance to show off their talent.

Wagoner Area Neighbors Executive Director Sam Majors said her agency assisted about 7,705 people in 2007, with funds provided in part by fundraisers.

“I’m really excited about it,” Majors said. “It’s just another example of the community using the great resources they already have to further our cause.”

Grad Nite 2008 Chairperson Jean Riggs said that when she was approached by the idea of having talented local performers airing their talent on behalf of the fundraiser for both WAN and Grad Nite, she was encouraged.
