Muskogee High School band students, shown here at the school's first home game of the season, are collecting blankets to send to hurricane survivors in Texas.

The Pride of Muskogee high school band is collecting blankets this week to send to Texas with water donations in an effort to assist those who have lost their homes in Hurricane Harvey, according to a media release.

The band will accept blanket donations from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the Alice Robertson Junior High band room on the north side of the building, 402 N. S St.

In addition, donations can be taken to PC Landing Zone or Bacone College, where water donations are being accepted for a truck that leaves Friday.

Other donations that will be accepted are water, toothbrushes, toothpaste, baby wipes, formula, diapers etc.

The Pride of Muskogee's annual blanket drive in partnership with the Muskogee Fire Department begins Sept. 1. Donations for local shelters, schools and families can be made at local fire stations beginning that day.
