Muskogee man faces rape, drug charges

Prosecutors filed charges Friday against a Muskogee man accused of raping a woman he allegedly drugged beforehand.

Investigators allege in an affidavit filed with the charging information that Wayland Lee Driskell, 43, gave the woman a cigarette he had dipped in Phencyclidine, or PCP. The woman, according to the affidavit, told investigators Driskell took advantage of her lethargic state and engaged in vaginal intercourse with her.

Driskell faces first-degree rape by force or fear or, in the alternative, first-degree rape by intoxicating a victim with a narcotic or anesthetic. Prosecutors also charged him with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute.

Driskell was being held Friday in lieu of a $50,000 bond in Muskogee County/City Detention Facility. He is scheduled to appear May 31 for the court’s felony sounding docket, at which time a preliminary hearing date should be set.
