NARFE celebrates 70th anniversary

NARFE State President James Gillespie of Tulsa speaks to members of the Muskogee-Azalea Chapter of the NARFE. Approximately 22 members gathered to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Muskogee-Azalea chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. The local chapter, formed in Sept. 28 1949, is the oldest chapter among 19 in Oklahoma and one of the older chapters in the nation. State president James Gillespie spoke to the members before they had cake, lemonade and coffee in the MLK Center’s Community Room. Claudia McElvain is the president of the Muskogee-Azalea chapter, which is numbered 0022.
