Haley Poffel, executive director of Kids' Space, answers questions about the Third annual Charity Auction, scheduled for Dec. 5:
1 What is Kids' Space?
"Kids’ Space is a nationally accredited child advocacy center. We coordinate the community’s response to child abuse by working with a multidisciplinary team of professionals to ensure that child victims and their families receive the necessary services to heal from their trauma. In addition, we work diligently to increase awareness and understanding of trauma and abuse. Ultimately, our goal is prevention and this requires an educated community that knows how to recognize and respond to child abuse and neglect."
2 What kind of auctions are planned?
"We will have both a live and silent auction. The silent auction will be going throughout the evening and stop shortly before the live auction begins."
3 Who will be the auctioneer?
"Our Board Vice President, Holly Rosser Miller, will be our auctioneer. She has done it for the previous two years. She’s hilarious, and it's the most entertaining part of the evening!"
4 What will be some of the items to be auctioned?
"During our live auction we will be auctioning off a beautifully handcrafted playhouse made by Dr. Larry Hamilton. Dr. Hamilton has been a Kids’ Space board member since 2015, and he has made a playhouse for our auction each year. He has such a heart for our mission and puts a lot of time and resources into building these playhouses, and it shows. We will also be auctioning off a five-nights trip to Angel Fire, New Mexico, which was donated by Dr. Todd and Terral Graybill. Dr. Graybill is also a Kids’ Space board member and his wife Terral is a former board member. We are so thankful for their longtime support of Kids’ Space. We will be live auctioning other items as well. Our silent auction always has lots of great items donated from local businesses. There is something for everyone, so we really encourage people to come check it out!"
5 Is there a cost to attend?
"The event is free to attend and there will be refreshments. It’s a great holiday event and a lot of fun!"
