Indian Capital Technology Center and Connors State College held their Occupational Therapy Assistant graduation ceremony in the Perry Conference Center of the ICTC-Muskogee campus on July 25. Completion certificates were awarded to 17 students who completed the OTA program.
Students who were recognized include: Amy Armendariz, Alexis Carrier, Jaycee Chandler, Nicole English, Jaryl French, Brandi Hignite, Danielle Huval, Arika Leach, Melissa Lewis, Caleb McClary, Shantel Miller, Erika Rector, Nicole Shafer, Shelbi Sixkiller, Shelley Smith, Jakkie Wright and Stefani Younger.
Students enrolled in this career major work with professional occupational therapists to deliver occupation-based interventions to assist others with autism, developmental disabilities, traumatic injuries, stroke, dementia, chronic illness, or mental health conditions. They also use rigorous curriculum with relevant fieldwork instruction in a variety of settings.
Through an agreement between ICTC and Connors State College, Occupational Therapy Assistant students who have completed the degree plan from CSC and successfully completed the OTA technical courses at ICTC may be granted an Associate of Applied Science degree by CSC, as well as a certificate from ICTC.
The ICTC/CSC Occupational Therapy Assistant program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Graduates of the OTA program are eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the Occupational Therapy Assistant administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
