Webbers Falls man to spend life in prison, no parole

A Webbers Falls man will spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting an 8-year-old and 9-year-old.

Kenneth James Brandt, 56, was sentenced Thursday to two sentences of life without the possibility of parole and a third life sentence, which will all be served consecutively.

Brandt was charged in May 2019 with two counts of child sexual abuse and one count of possession of child pornography. Jurors found him guilty last month on all charges, recommending the two sentences of life without the possibility of parole for the child sex abuse charges and the life sentence for the pornography.

“Brandt had a prior conviction for the same crime in Michigan,” Loge said at the conclusion of the trial. “They wanted to make sure he didn’t get out to do it again.”

Brandt was initially charged after he sexually assaulted the two children between the dates of April 1 and May 15, 2018, according to an affidavit filed with the case. During that time, Brandt had sex with the children, took showers with them, and took nude photographs of them.
