Back in the day when people came to the library to search for a book, they used the card catalog that had cards arranged in order by title, author or subject. The “Q” still has an old-fashioned card catalog. People who haven’t used the library in years open the drawers thinking they will see the actual cards that formerly told them where to find a book. To their surprise it’s empty. These days our actual card catalog is located in a computer that sits on top of the old one. While some might miss the old days with the cards, the automated catalog has so many more benefits.
One of those benefits is the database, Novelist Plus. While the old cards could give you a little information about a book, Novelist Plus can provide so much more information. Did you fall in love with a particular title? Wish you could find more books like it? Novelist Plus is the perfect place to look because of their “Read Alike” aspect. Search for the book in our catalog. When you find the book, just scroll down the page and you will find similar titles, authors, reviews, awards and more.
If, on the other hand, you just want to browse Novelist Plus try, “I'm in the mood for books that are...,” or “Keeping up” with your favorite genre. Searching can be limited by topic or age range and children’s reading level. You’re never at a loss for a book to read or an audiobook to listen to when you log into the Eastern Oklahoma Library System card catalog from home or when visiting the “Q”
See you soon, at the “Q!”
