A 4-year-old girl was taken to Saint Francis Hospital after her foot was run over Tuesday afternoon near Whittier Elementary School.
Muskogee Police Officer Jeramie Garcia said the incident occurred around 2:49 p.m. Tuesday. He did not have information on the driver or vehicle. He said the child was standing with her mother in the roadway.
"It was not a hit and run, the driver remained on the scene," he said. "There will be no arrests made or citations."
Muskogee County Emergency Medical Service Spokeswoman Trish German said the child was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Steve Braun, director of Communications and Marketing for Muskogee Public Schools, said the child was with her parent who was picking up a student from school.
"It wasn’t a student of Whittier, it was a student’s sibling," Braun said.
