TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Tahlequah Police Chief Nate King confirmed that two people are dead after a shooting Wednesday night.
According to reports, officers responded to a domestic incident near Pamela Street and Park Hill Road around 8 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found one person dead, and the suspect was still at the residence. According to reports, the situation escalated and officers shot and killed the suspect.
King said he will release more details shortly.
However, according to unofficial sources, the dead man is Eddie Ray Maxwell, 36, Tahlequah. Sources said the man shot and killed his wife, Rachel Maxwell, during an argument. According to online court reports, Maxwell was charged with manslaughter in 2002, as well as assault and battery with a weapon in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
