Woodland Hills, California
I want to thank Diane Dimond for writing this piece of very valuable information, which most of society don’t know or care about.
They should. Most tax-payers are not aware that every time we vote to pass another ridiculous law, that it will cost us dearly and do next to nothing to protect communities and children.
I want to also add, that if our system of law enforcement, courts and corrections focused on diversion, causation, and rehabilitation, we would not have “career criminals” as was written in the article. Citizens need to learn and change their behavior and life in order to live a crime-free life.
I live in California, where we also have civil commitment. In my state, courts civilly commit citizens to indefinite stay at a hospital/prison, which costs tax-payers over a quarter of a million dollars per patient per year to run. I am not even weighing in the political monies involved.
Maybe, Ms. Dimond can elaborate on this latter issue next time. I thank you.
