School is out, and that means kids big and small will be out and looking for things to occupy their time.
It means a lot more kids will be outside doing a variety of things during the day. Parks will be busier. Kids will be out riding their bikes, skateboards or whatever.
And, that means people driving will have to be more aware.
Drivers have done a good job of following the rules when it comes to school zones and bus loading and unloading. Now, they will have to shift gears, so to speak.
Drivers will need to be extra watchful when driving through neighborhoods and around parks. There will be more kids out having fun, and kids — especially the little ones — don’t always pay as close attention to cars as they should.
That’s why the adults need to be extra careful. We would hate to see a child run out into the street in front of a car in which the driver is not paying attention.
The best advice is to play it safe. Drive carefully, slow down and pay attention to what’s going on around you.
Be safe to avoid any problems.
