CONNORS 11, ARKANSAS TECH 1 — Connors State opened up its season strong with a win at home. Tyler Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run home run, David Mendham had two hits and three RBIs while Anmi Ortega had two hits with one RBI. Landon McCallisster (1-0) went five innings with six strikeouts and no earned runs. The Cowboys broke the game open scoring five runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by Smith’s home run. Connors State plays a doubleheader on Thursday at the University of the Ozarks.

NSU 5, NW STATE 1 — The RiverHawks scored four runs in the fifth inning on Tuesday afternoon as they beat Northwestern Oklahoma. Chaz Orr was 4-for-4 with three runs batted in for NSU (2-3) and Dakodah Jones (1-0) got the win.

 

Men’s basketball

OSU 64, K-STATE 59 — The Cowboys held a six-point lead at intermission then kept the Wildcats at bay in the second stanza. Yor Anei led OSU (12-12, 2-9 Big 12) with 15 points, Lindy Waters III finished with 12 points, Jonathan Laurent had 11 points and Cameron McGriff had 10 points.

TENNESSEE 82, ARKANSAS 61 — The Razorbacks fell behind 40-23 at halftime, a deficit they couldn’t recover from. Jimmy Whitt led Arkansas (16-8, 4-7 SEC) with 19 points, Desi Sills had 11 points and Reggie Chaney had 10 points.

 

Women’s basketball

OSU 73, OU 69 — The Cowgirls went on a 15-7 run to close out the third quarter, changing a five-point deficit into a three-point advantage, 50-47, a lead they would never relinquish. Vivian Gray led OSU (14-10, 5-7 Big 12) with 24 points while Natasha Mack had 23 points and Clitan DeSousa had 15 points. Ana Llanusa led OU (12-12, 5-7) with a game-high 26 points, Madi Williams finished with 19 points and Taylor Robertson had 11 points.
