WARNER — Cheyanne Crain hit two free throws to take the lead and Tateum Jones added an icer from the line with :02 left in overtime as Connors State captured a dramatic 86-83 double OT win over Northeastern A&M on Monday at Melvin Self Field House.
NEO (8-6, 3-1) led 16-1 and eventually, 20-4 at the end of the opening quarter, but the Cowgirls (17-2, 4-1 OCAC) rallied to a 61-all contest at the end of regulation.
A 3 by Koreea Kirkey with :07 left in the first OT erased a 73-70 Connors’ lead, forcing another extra period.
Lauren Wright had 23 points to lead Connors. Jasmyn Taylor had 18. Jones and De’Asia Reed had 10 each.
The Cowgirls are at 19th-ranked Northern-Enid on Thursday.
NEO 76, Connors 73 (M)
Connors lost its third consecutive game, this one a 76-73 overtime heartbreaker to Northeastern A&M on Monday night.
Deadlocked at 68 at the end of regulation, the Cowboys (15-4, 2-3 OCAC) took a 71-68 lead on a three-point shot by Caleb Riggs, who finished with 23 points, which included seven from behind the arc.
However, the Cowboys missed several shots that would have given them a cushion, before the Norse (11-5, 4-0) scored seven unanswered points to secure the victory.
Daylon Tanksley and Jarquavious Cain followed Riggs in the scoring with 15 points each. Isaiah Francis added another 13 in the loss.
Connors is at Northern-Enid on Thursday.
