Oklahoma State is the leader through Saturday’s 36 holes in the Big 12 men’s golf tournament at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
OSU shot 546 and at 14-under leads TCU by eight shots. Oklahoma and Texas are tied at 2-under 558. The Cowboys’ Viktor Hovland shot 68 and 64 and at 8-under 132 is tied atop the leaderboard with TCU’s Hayden Springer. OSU’s Matthew Wolff is at 3-under 137 and fifth, with Austin Eckroat one shot back. OU’s PAtrick Welch and Garrett Reband are at 1-under 139.
The 54-hole rain-shortened event concludes with 18 holes today.
PONCA CITY 7-11, MUSKOGEE 3-1 — A four-run third broke a 1-1 tie in the opener and the Wildcats swept the Roughers. Ryan Hunter was 2-for-4 among Muskogee’s five hits in the first game. Max Rosson worked five innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs, three of which were earned. Austin Fletcher threw a shutout inning in relief. Rosson was hitless in three at-bats in game two but was credited with the lone RBI. MHS had three hits. Pryce Jackson gave up 10 hits over four innings, striking out five, and Fletcher allowed three runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of support. The Roughers are 8-20 and 0-12 in District 6A-3, with regionals set for later this week. They are scheduled to play at Pryor in a regular season finale on Monday.
CHECOTAH 8, STIGLER 6 — The Wildcats (15-16) scored two in the top of the eighth and held on to win the Class 4A bi-district series 2-1. Cade Shropshire, Hunter Hamilton, Bratt MArtin and Caden Walker all had multi-hit games. Matt Clover, Walker and Hamilton combined on the mound with Hamilton getting the win.
SOPER 2, GORE 0 — The Pirates (19-10) were eliminated in regionals and finished 19-10.
CONNORS 14-16, ARKANSAS BAPTIST 3-2 — Jake Womack had a three-run home run, his 10th, in a two-hit game one. Anmi Ortega had two hits and drove in a pair, and Andres Gonzalez had two hits. Bryan Martinez (6-3) went five innings, allowing two runs and struck out six.
Ortega had four hits and four RBis in game 2. Gonzalez drove in three runs and Bryer Ward (1-1) allowed one run and struck out six over six innings. Connors (39-7) will play Rose State on Monday, location and time TBD.
