Warriors go down in finale

The Oklahoma Warriors’ first season drew a championship game.

It also drew another knockout punch from the now two-time champions of the Women’s Minor League Basketball Association.

The Dallas Lightning got 18 points from Princess Davis and cruised to another convincing win over the Warriors, 113-62, in the title game at the Lakewest YMCA in Dallas.

The Lightning was responsible for three of the defeats handed the Warriors (5-4). The previous two were by a combined 98 points. This one was consistent with history. Dallas led 29-15 after one and 56-28 at the half before taking a 75-42 lead into the fourth.

Dametria Dawson led the Warriors in scoring. The team’s top scorer this season finished with 18 points. Jordan Evans had 13 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. Verressa Gaston had 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks.

For Dallas, Princess Davis had 18 points. OSU ex Shuante Smith had17 points. D’Asia Brown had 14.

The Warriors were outshot 36-15 from 3-point range, had 28 turnovers and were playing without one regular starter, Shay Holmes.
