SAN ANTONIO -- Shanicka Courtney’s 3-pointer from the corner with 13 seconds left sealed the Oklahoma Warriors’ 80-74 victory on Sunday against the San Antonio Troopers in Women’s Minor League Basketball action at Our Lady of the Lake University.
The shot increased the Warriors‘ lead to 78-74 to clinch their second straight win.
“I just had confidence in my shot,” Courtney, a 5-foot-5 guard from Sapulpa, said. “My teammates gave me the pass and I had the confidence to make it.”
Shay Holmes and Dametria Dawson combined for 56 points in the victory. Holmes finished with 32 along with nine rebounds.
Jordan Evans topped the Warriors (2-1) with 10 rebounds and Dawson grabbed eight boards.
“Our guards really set the tempo for this game,” Holmes said.
Another guard, Cierra Miles, led Oklahoma with eight steals.
Oklahoma led 39-34 at halftime.
“We’re on a roll,” Oklahoma coach Gena Maxwell said. “We’ve got to keep it up and bring it home and we’ll have to play hard at home.”
The Warriors play Georgia at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Muskogee Civic Center.
